ROAD TRIP IN PERTH WITH AERIES
THINKING OF WHERE TO STAY IN PERTH CBD?
Alright let's start with the accommodation. I will highly recommend Hay Street Traveller's Inn for those looking for budget stay.Cons:
No free parking so you have to pay certain amount which will be quite pricey for overnight stay.
Pros:
- Bathroom: Shared-bathroom but no worry, cleanliness is good and we don't have problem getting our own showering time.
- Facilities: They have a shared kitchen and an organised cupboard for you to keep your cooking materials and ingredients. It is totally a plus point if you want to save money on foods as you can cook your own dishes.
- Transportation: You can hop on & off the public buses which will stop at the opposite street. Very convenience
- Others: And this is the MAIN REASON for us to choose here because there are two car rental companies which are located in vicinity --- ARIES and BAYSWATER. You can also park your car overnight at here for free if you rent from the relevant company. This indeed helps to save money and also safety is ensured.
And since there was only two of us, we rented the cheapest and smallest car --- Nissan Micra with unlimited mileage, with a total of $285 Aus dollar with GPS navigation. This is a super good deal compared to others car rental company. They offered us a very good service and I do highly recommended ARIES car rental.
Return of car was also very hassle-free. The staff would do a quick check for any scratches and minor dents on the car and this might cost certain amount of money though. So, remember to drive safely and take good care of the car. Even if the scratches come unknowingly, you have to pay full responsibility too.
Here is the self pay booth for your parking ticket. Price and the parking hour will be shown on the screen |
Off to the main high road & here started our road trippin' journey! |
And the further the car drove, the scenery also starting to change to another view |
Gave a halt, stopped by the road side and took a photo with our car |
This was suppose to be a frolicking of yellow flowers field. Too bad it was not that obvious from the photo |

THINGS TO TAKE NOTE OF WHEN DRIVING IN AUSTRALIA
- The driver's seat is on the right side, so it is not a big problem for Malaysian like us.
- Malaysian's driving license can be used in Australia, so you don't have to apply for international license (which maybe applicable for others countries).
- Drive according to the speed's limit, don't try to accelerate too much as you might get an infringement notice (so known as "Saman" in Malaysia) anytime.
- When getting close to town, you will need to slow down your speed to around 50 to 70 km/h for safety measure.
- Aware of wildlife crossing the road. Sometimes, it was quite common to see dead bodies of kangaroo, rabbit or other wildlife beside the road. So it is better to drive safely. Remember to look for cars on opposite side of road first when avoiding those animals.
- Road trip around Perth is fun, driving from south to north, from Albany to Kalbarri ; Although it will take quite a long time. So remember to take good rest before you start off your journey. You can apply for additional driver as well if you want to take turn to drive.
- Road tripping in Perth will need a thorough and details planning if you want to save time and avoid driving to the wrong places. So do plan your itinerary properly before you go to Perth.
- Lastly, prepare enough amount of money and enjoy your vacation!
I'm figuring which rental company to choose and this post clears some of my doubts. Thank you
